How to Write Personal Stories

We all have a story to tell – about our childhood, the place we live, our travels, the trials of parenthood and relationships.

About this Event

Some of us have begun, others don’t know where to start, or aren’t convinced they can write - then find they can! The day is for those anywhere on this spectrum. It will offer ways to get ideas flowing, to reflect on details we may have forgotten, plus time to write with no distractions. A chance to finally get pen to paper - literally!

This workshop is open for beginners to creative writing, or those who have been to one of Maggie's workshops before. Every workshop is slightly different, so do feel welcome to return. It's the freedom to write in peace and to meet other writers that tempts people to return.

Formerly a life-planning consultant and counsellor, Maggie Smith is fascinated by the unexplored possibilities of ‘ordinary’ people’s lives. The author of three books on mid-life career change, she now concentrates on fiction; recently published a well-reviewed memoir of her first three decades and has almost completed the next and final part, which covers her life as a single parent forging a career.

Tickets cost £30, and include a light lunch - please email [email protected] with any dietary requirements.

Free and subsidised places are available - please email [email protected] for more details.
