Bell House holds Learning to Care speaker events every quarter, bringing together expert speakers on a topic with opportunities for Q&A and panel discussion throughout. These events are free to attend. Topics that we have covered so far include legal matters, advice from a geriatrician, and dementia.
The Learning to Care project is demand-led; we cover the topics that you tell us you’d like to learn more about! If you’d like to share your ideas, meet with one of the team to discuss your experiences as a carer, or get involved as a speaker or in our films, please get in touch with Emily & Erenie at [email protected]
Our third Learning to Care event will be focused on making the home environment safe.
Jackie Prescott will be speaking on her personal experience of supporting her elderly mother
Beth Colquhorn from Birdie will be explaining some of the latest technology available to help keep someone safe in their own home
Helen Reeves, an osteopath from The Vale Practice will talk on how to prevent falls
Zara Dsouza from Natwest and PC Dan McLynn from the Dulwich Village Safer Neighbourhood team will go through some of the current door to door, by post and online scams and will give tips on how to spot them and avoid being caught
We will also be presenting our new film ‘Safety in the Home’
