Art at Bell House
It is well documented that creativity is essential for well-being and at Bell House we believe in lifelong creative learning for all. Our art programme offers a range of art workshops and activities led by professional artists, and continues to grow. Our classes are designed for all levels of experience from the absolute beginner to the more experienced art practitioner and take place in the beautiful rooms and gardens of Bell House.
THE CREATIVE ARTS CLUB - ART FOR ALL
The Creative Arts Club is a monthly arts group for all adults (18+).
The aim of the club is to offer participants a wide range of art and craft activities in a beautiful and friendly setting. All levels of experience are catered for in each class - we welcome the absolute beginner as well as the more experienced artist!
Some examples of the activities offered over the past year include:
drawing, painting, collage, decoupage, marbling, gilding, cyanotype printing.. to name but a few. There really is something for everyone at the Creative Arts Club.
The classes are led by local artist Sarah Wetherall who has many years’ experience running art workshops, activities and events for a range of age groups. She worked at Dulwich Picture Gallery for over 10 years. During her time there she focused on community outreach and engagement - in particular the pioneering Art for Older People programmes, which included work with diverse groups of people living with dementia.
Sarah has developed a particular interest in the link between creativity, health and well-being. This lies at the heart of all her classes.

PAST ARTIST-IN-RESIDENCE
We welcomed our first Artist in Residence in December 2023.
Atalanta Xanthe is an internationally exhibited painter represented by the Alice Black gallery in London. She received her undergraduate degree at the University of Oxford, Ruskin School of Art, and her postgraduate MFA at the New York Academy of Art. On graduating, at 21, she became the New York Academy of Art’s youngest Fellow. Her background in painting, sculpture, and a decade of life-drawing practice, has given her a wide-ranging technical skill-set which she shared with the Bell House community through her Saturday Art Studio classes.
You can explore her work via her Instagram or her gallerist’s website, Alice Black.
