Music at Bell House
Concerts
In the 18th Century, when Bell House was built, England become the vibrant musical centre of Europe. The new “middle” class of successful merchants, traders, craftsmen and professionals had the time and money to visit opera houses, music clubs or, in London, the pleasure gardens hearing the latest concertos and songs. But chamber music in the home continued to be an important leisure activity.
Today the Thomas Wright room is a perfect space for enjoying music from intimate chamber concerts to sing-along Jamaican folk songs to handbell ringing workshops.
Meet the Musician Series
This series was started when Covid-19 meant we could no longer have live performances in the house. Meet the musicians features Q&A interviews with young up and coming musicians from the local area. Learn about their work below and enjoy a recorded performance, sometimes made in four different countries and brought together digitally!
Contact Us
Bell House would be happy to hear from musicians interested in performing music in the house. Perhaps you would like to try out a new repertoire before going on tour or a big concert.
