Filmmaking 101
What does a director actually do? What makes a good script? Why is editing so important? Over the course of this year, Bell House Films will answer these questions and many more with its series of ‘Filmmaking 101’ events.
Every month, an industry professional will host an online tutorial, where they will delve into the fundamentals of a specific filmmaking discipline.
This Session: Acting
This tutorial will be hosted by actors Keziah Joseph and James Broadley. Keziah and James will look at the role of the actor and ways to prepare for performance.
Who is this for?
For anyone and everyone with an interest in film, ‘Filmmaking 101’ is for you. You don’t need experience, you don’t need kit, you just need to bring your creativity and your curiosity.

All proceeds are shared between the workshop leader and Bell House, a volunteer-run educational charity.
About Keziah Joseph
Keziah trained at the Royal Central School of speech and drama. She is an award winning actor who has worked in film, theatre, radio and animation. Credits include: 'The Octonauts', CBeebies (2021), 'The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe', Bridge Theatre (2019), Olivier nominated 'Mr Gum and the Dancing Bear', National Theatre (2019), 'The Paper Man', Soho Theatre (2019), 'Doctor Who - Cold Vengeance', Big Finish (2017) & 'The Archers', BBC Radio 4 (2016). She has experience in devising and making theatre with companies like Improbable and Complicité - who she is currently working with on an adaptation of 'The Language of Kindness' by Christie Ward. Keziah has written a range of performance poetry, monologues and short scenes herself, as part of her work as a deviser and theatre maker.
About James Broadley
James trained at the Royal Central School of Speech & Drama on the BA Acting with Collaborative & Devised theatre course. James has performed in numerous stage and short films. James facilities with the National Youth Theatre on the Summer Course. James' passion is in play and movement, and how film can be used to capture the explosive and subtle dynamics of being alive.
James is the co-founder of 'Make a Film in a Weekend' a fun, action-packed 2-day film course for people aged 16-99. Alongside performing, James is studying a post-graduate in Social Innovation and is curious about the connections between being an actor-creator while also being a positive force in society.
