Smartphone Filmmaking

smartphone film course Bell House

A one-day workshop, ‘Smartphone Filmmaking’ will introduce people to the fundamental concepts of filmmaking and provide them with the tools they need to be able to shoot their own films on their smartphone.

The workshop will be a hands-on, active event, where attendees will continually put into practice the principles they are learning, such as exposure, lighting, sound, framing, planning your shoot and editing. You don’t need experience, you don’t need expensive kit, you just need a smartphone and your own creativity and curiosity.

All attendees should bring their own lunch, a smartphone and a smartphone charger.  Attendees should also download the editing app Premiere Rush or iMovie (both of which are free).

Complementary tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided.

Tickets are £80 or £50 if you are in full-time education. Further subsidised tickets are available upon application. For ticket discounts please email Bell House at [email protected]

About the event leader

The event will be hosted by director and resident Bell House filmmaker Dan Robb. Dan has been involved in the theatre and film business for over 20 years. Having trained initially as an actor, he co-founded and ran his own theatre company, Badac.

His passion for cinema led him into the film industry, where he worked at a number of film companies developing scripts for the screen. In partnership with Chapman Entertainment, he also wrote and created a pilot for a children’s television series.

He is the director of Perspective Films, a film production company that creates compelling online content for businesses and charities.
