Christmas Heat Press Foiling Workshop

About this event

We will use a heat press to transfer the metallic foils onto the glued surface, leaving your designs shiny. You will be guided through designing, printing and foiling your own A4 textile samples and final pieces, this could be an item of clothing from home or the charity shop. Your aim is to up-cycle and transform an old piece of clothing, rather than buy something new. In this workshop you could make your Christmas cards and Christmas gifts!

The foils can also be applied to a range of textured surfaces such as; knit, weave, stitch and crochet samples. The foils also work on other materials such as; leather, cotton, linen and suede.

All materials and equipment will be provided. If you have time before the workshop, feel free to cut your own A5-A4 paper stencils using old sheets of newspaper, this will all more time for printing in the workshop.

This workshop is suitable for anyone, beginners and those with experience. By the end of the three hour workshop you will have a greater understanding of the process, the equipment and materials needed to print at home.

  • This workshop is not that messy, however best to wear old clothing just in-case.

  • If you have time, feel free to make your own paper stencils before the workshop, this will give you more time to print during the session. Keep your stencils no larger than A4 and just use paper that you would put in the photocopier, or newspaper.

  • This is an up-cycling Foiling workshop, please bring your own vests, t-shirts, jumpers, tote bags, tea-towel or even socks from home, avoid buying anything new!

  • After this workshop Christmas is only 5 weeks away, this could be a nice opportunity for you to make some gifts for your family or make Christmas cards.

  • We can make everyone a cup of tea and provide water, feel free to bring a snack.
