Cyanotype in colour – prints on paper

  • Bell House Dulwich 27 College Rd England, SE21 7BG United Kingdom (map)

Discover the magic of cyanotype – one of the oldest and most beautiful photographic printing processes – and explore how colour can transform it beyond its classic blue.

In this hands-on workshop you will learn the fundamentals of cyanotype printing on paper, experimenting with natural forms, found objects and cut paper to create striking compositions. We will then explore how to introduce colour to your prints through toning and layering techniques, opening up a rich palette of warm and unexpected hues. You will leave with a small collection of finished cyanotype prints to take home, along with the confidence and knowledge to continue experimenting.

All materials are provided – just bring a notebook if you'd like to jot down notes and recipes along the way. Protective gloves will be provided, but you are welcome to bring your own if you prefer. An apron is recommended.

The workshop is led by Zoë Burt, a London-based artist whose practice connects ecology, imagination and material culture through drawing, textiles and plant-based processes. (@zoeburtuk Instagram)
