This webinar is aimed at parents and carers with an interest in finding out more about overlapping language and literacy needs and how to support. We will explore the relationship between speech, language and literacy needs, highlighting how developmental language disorder and dyslexia can overlap. We will look at practical, compassionate approaches that reduce barriers and improve access to learning.

Gemma Chapple is an ex SENCO and specialist teacher assessor (dyslexia and dyscalculia) with 25 years’ experience teaching children with a wide range of SEND including those with cooccurring language difficulties and literacy needs. She has worked in a range of settings including mainstream, specialist schools for speech and language and resource bases across primary, secondary through to Post 16. She has a Master’s in Joint Professional Practice: Language and Communication.
