Lecture – Frida: The Making of an Icon at Tate Modern

  • Bell House Dulwich 27 College Rd England, SE21 7BG United Kingdom (map)

The eccentric paintings of the Mexican artist Frida Kahlo went largely unnoticed in her lifetime. It was only after her death, age 47, that her career exploded. She produced more than 150 images of herself. 'I am the subject I know best’ she wrote and many of them can be seen in the major exhibition of her work now showing at Tate Modern.

Join Cindy Polemis as we explore how Frida Kahlo transformed her intensely personal self-portraits into one of the most powerful artistic legacies of the 20th century.
