LETTERPRESS PRINTING

  • Friday 26 June BESPOKE STATIONERY (morning) workshop

  • Friday 26 June BESPOKE STATIONERY (afternoon) workshop

EXPERIENCE LEVEL – NONE

Would you like to have a go at letterpress printing?

Led by the Creative Director of the Print Room & Bindery, Tania Hurt-Newton, this session is designed to introduce you to letterpress printing using metal type in a very small group.

You will be given an introduction to the traditional printing techniques that have been used for the last five hundred years and will be able to design, typeset and print your own bespoke stationery using our metal type on Adana presses.

ONLY 3 places available for lots of one-to-one focus time. There will be three presses available. One for each person.

After some basic prep in general principles and typography you will learn how to hand-set your type on a composing stick, transfer it to a chase along with a vintage image block and lock it up for printing. From there you’ll ink up an Adana 8×5 tabletop press, print 25 sheets (or more) of quality A5 paper, postcards and envelopes. You will take home your set of bespoke stationery in a presentation box.

This workshop, led by graphic designer, bookbinder and print maker, Tania Hurt-Newton, is an ideal gift for someone special or just for yourself.

ALL MATERIALS INCLUDED – NO EXPERIENCE NEEDED.
