A Likely Story brings together paintings and drawings made by Bell House Artist in Residence Rosie Bayliss. The Georgian rooms, gardens and architecture of Bell House engage with and inform the works.
The paintings move between domestic interiors and the garden beyond, creating pieces charged with psychological tension: places that hold memory, imagination, and the uneasy gap between the two. Figures appear on the edge of things; caught waiting, watching, seeing what happens next. What is remembered, what is imagined, and what is simply a likely story, one version among many possible ones.
Small fragment paintings sit alongside larger works in the Thomas Wright Room, each approaching the same world from a different angle.
