The Magic of Transformation

There is something magical about working with precious metal leaf. The material itself, thinner than a human hair, is a wonder: beautiful, strong, with the power to transform the humblest of objects into something special.

In this introductory class you will learn how to use precious metal transfer leaf using simple fun processes to gild on paper and wood.

We will take inspiration from illuminated lettering and the plant and leaf shapes to be found in the garden at Bell House.

You will take home at least two beautiful gilded pieces … and a head full of ideas!

No experience necessary – this class is for the absolute beginner as well as the more experienced art practitioner. All materials and refreshments will be provided.

About the Artists/Workshop Leader:

The session will be run by Sarah Wetherall, a local artist who has many years of experience running art workshops, activities and events for a range of diverse groups of all ages. She worked at Dulwich Picture Gallery for over 10 years – during her time there she developed a particular interest in the link between creativity, health and well-being. This lies at the heart of all her classes.
