Sigmund Freud’s model of the psyche poses three main elements of the personality: the Id, the Ego and the Super ego.

Can these elements help us to uncover the unconscious forces that shape a poem?

Psychotherapist, cultural critic and screenwriter, Nancy Elliott will introduce you to the principles of psychoanalysis and the history of black poetry, exploring Claude McKay's poem 'If We Must Die' through a psychoanalytic lens.

Tickets cost £10, to include a glass of wine or soft drink.

Bursary places are available: email [email protected] for the details.
