How to Pattern Cut: Beginners Course

About this Event

This pattern making workshop is suitable for beginners who have an interest in pattern cutting but no real experience. The workshop is limited to ten students which will ensure plenty of one-to-one tutoring and assistance. You will be guided by me to take correct body measurements, to adjust the block pattern for fit and to create a professional pattern and beautifully finished garment by the end of the two days.

This is a two day course running from 10-3pm on the 25th and 26th January.

About the garments

You will be able to create one of two designs on this two day workshop. Both items are sleeveless so you will create facing patterns to finish the raw edges. Design Lines has a semi-fitted silhouette and features a shallow v-neck, diagonal front detailing and side slits. It sits just above the hip-line. The back has two bodice darts and is buttoned. In Relief has an a-line silhouette, manipulated side-seams and also sits just above the hip-line. The two triangles on the front left are 'in relief' flaps to create a 3-D effect. The back is finished with buttons.

The Learning Outcomes for beginners include:

• Drawing design lines • Constructing facing patterns • Developing a back facing • Constructing decorative triangular flaps • Drawing a geometric facing • Manipulating darts and side seams • Constructing side slits
