An Introduction to Screenwriting

This workshop will teach you the nuts and bolts of film and TV writing. Whether adapting a story from another medium or developing an original idea, outline or existing script of your own or even if just curious, you’ll be taken through structure, formatting, story and character development; as well as tricks of the trade, what you need to sell your script and real life examples of working as a writer in TV and film. Suitable for all levels of experience.

About the course leader

Darren Rapier has worked as a writer for film, TV, theatre and radio. He is currently a writer on EastEnders and Doctors, for the BBC; has written and directed several short films; has worked as a script consultant/editor on several feature films and currently has three feature films in development. He is a visiting lecturer at Rose Bruford College, The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, The British Film Institute and the SAE Institute. He has also run film writing courses internationally.

The course will conclude with a half hour meet/greet and Q&A with Doc Martin creator and screenwriter Dominic Minghella .
