Art Exhibition: Threshold

  • Bell House Dulwich 27 College Rd England, SE21 7BG United Kingdom (map)

Little Moth in the Woods, etching with watercolour and gouache on Japanese paper by Ned Elliot

Threshold is a three-day art exhibition from the 12th to 14th December at Bell House which will bring together six creative people whose work, whilst grounded in traditional skills, is contemporary. Whether basketry, intaglio printing or rug making, they’ve all eloquently allowed time old processes to be an intrinsic part of their creativity.

As makers, their stories are intriguing, bridging the past and presence, and smudging traditional art preconceptions, it is these stories, threaded in their work, that brings them together into this one exhibition.

The exhibitors are:

Tom Crowley

Vedat Demiralp, Coban Rugs

Ned Elliott

Jack Fawdry Tatham

Kirsten Hecktermann

Pip Rice

Their work will be for sale, with proceeds supporting both the exhibitors and the Bell House Creative Health programme. This programme uses creative approaches and activities to improve health and wellbeing, and works in partnership with a range of charitable initiatives.

Your contribution will help expand the charity’s work with people affected by dementia, aphasia, and postnatal depression. Specifically, these funds will support the development and delivery of training, free workshops, and activities designed to best meet the needs of these communities.

The exhibition has been curated by Lucy Macdonald. Lucy is passionate about the creative and humanistic dimensions of craft.

A curator’s talk will be held on Sunday, 14 December, from 3–4pm, exploring the central themes of the exhibition. Guests will also be guided through the works on display and have the opportunity to hear directly from the artists and design practitioners featured in Threshold.

  • Friday 12th: 10am - 4pm

  • Saturday 13th: 10am - 4pm
