  • Bell House Dulwich 27 College Rd England, SE21 7BG United Kingdom (map)

EXPERIENCE LEVEL – BEGINNER

Would you like to have a go at bookbinding?

Come and start the summer with Tania in our Print Room & Bindery.

You will learn the fundamentals of paper grain, bone folding, punching, stitching, binding cloth to board and making a slip case.

This workshop is suited to anyone whether you have prior experience in bookbinding or not. This will be a fun workshop where you will create 4 books in one, cased in hard covers and with ties should you wish. This is a great start for those wanting to explore bookbinding.

All materials and equipment supplied. Tania will have ready prepared all the materials you need trimmed to size for an efficient speed of working. *

This session is designed to equip you with skills that you can build on at future workshops and work on at home.

These workshops are held in the Bell House Print Room and Bindery where we will be using materials and equipment kindly donated to us from Dulwich College and The London Library. Space is limited so book fast. These are probably the smallest book binding classes ever! ONLY 4 places available for lots of one-to-one focus time.

You will most definitely be needing a break so either bring along a sarnie or we can refuel on some biccies for half an hour.

There is a chance of over-running so please allow some extra time at the end of the day.

COST £60 – ALL MATERIALS INCLUDED – NO EXPERIENCE NEEDED.

*PLEASE NOTE this workshop is unsuitable for under 16s and sharp equipment is used.

PLEASE BRING AN EXTRA LAYER AS THE PRINT ROOM MAY GET CHILLY

The workshop will be run by the Creative Director of the Print Room & Bindery – Tania Hurt-Newton.

Tania has a BA Hons in graphic design and illustration. She studied at Camberwell College of Art & Crafts (now UAL) where she fell in love with letterpress printing and bookbinding.
